It was the most positive convention for me in a LONG time. Let me explain:
First my badge submission [link] made the cover of the program book and the main pre-reg badge. The traditional version
had the highest bid of any art at the Art Show this year. The Art Show was another part of the success. I had people coming up to me congratulating me and people calling me a Rockstar. The Art Show started off JAM-PACKED! I had NEVER seen that many people. When the first piece of mine was brought up and they asked if the artist was in the house, people clapped and cheered. That had never happened before. It was an amazing feeling to be sure. I submitted 21 total pieces to the Art Show. 15 regular pieces and 6 adult pieces. Out of that 21, 12 regular pieces went to the live auction and 3 adult pieces. 2 pieces went for their first bid leaving me 4 of my adult pieces to take home. It was fantastic actually, because I got to keep one of my favorite adult pieces (yay). So, I shattered my all-time record for amount of money made at the art show by nearly three times over the amount. Apparently, Egyptians were the hot ticket! Although, I don't think I will do an Egyptian piece next year...but don't hold me to that
So, please go through my submissions, i want to hear feedback.
Dear lord though....I am TIRED!!! I need a drink and a nap. Seriously, yo.

I loved that Egyptian piece -- it made me glad to have it on the program cover since I didn't have a pre-reg badge. Your stuff has definitely evolved since I first met you for that anatomy panel at A-kon. It's too bad the artists couldn't have gotten an image like THAT on our badges instead of... whatever that thing was. Eugh.
Seriously, I didn't meet a single person through the entire weekend who DIDN'T think it wasn't on par with normal badge artwork. Last year we got the crotch shot, this year we got something that was apparently trying to be a loose sketchy style that just didn't work (to me at least).
After this year's BB badges I've decided to submit badge artwork next year specifically for the BB. Combined with this year's Monday badge artwork I'd like to think I'd have at least a decent shot at getting my submission used for SOMETHING! How do you go about submitting things for that? Do you get your table/memberships for free or something if they use your stuff on a badge?
And in closing, just let me add: ginormous badges were ginormous. I didn't even wear mine all weekend because it was so cumbersome! They didn't need 5x7" (or whatever they were) badges to accommodate a 1x1" electronic sticker thing on the back.
When you agree to do badge art and you've been assigned badges to create you are immediately eligible for a free table at the convention. Even if they opt not to use your badge work. However, with your caliber they most definitely will.
Even though the badges were huge, most people seemed to like them mostly because if the art was good, they got a free print (well, not THAT free, anyway)
Re: badge art: Who do I talk to about that? I've always kind of held off on trying since my style isn't exactly anime, although I can definitely do dynamic poses and swoopy flowy hair. I already have an idea for an artist badge... can you volunteer to do badge art and ask to submit something for a specific badge in addition to anything else they might want?
That's a pretty expensive 3.5x5" print!
For badge art you will need to contact Dan Minut. He's the Art Director and he decides who gets to do what.
